FAQ

Thank you for making your way to the frequently asked questions page. This means perhaps you have purchased some of my fibre art and so I have compiled some answers to questions you may have.

FAQ Amigurumi and Crochet Art

What is Amigurumi?

According it Wikipedia, Amigurumi is the Japanese art of knitting or crocheting small, stuffed yarn creatures. The word is a portmanteau of the Japanese words ami, meaning crocheted or knitted, and nuigurumi, meaning stuffed doll.

What are these made of?

I use either cotton or acrylic yarn, however sometimes will include wool in decorative embellishments The plastic eyes are called 'safety eyes' and attach from the front to the inside using a plastic washer. Although they are called 'safety eyes, it is possible that they can become detached and pose a choking hazard. Do not pull on the eyes, or other appendages as it is possible they can come off and pose an issue. Full materials listed here.

Are they safe for children?

I make my amigurumi as a decorative item, not a play toy. Although probably fine for ages 3-5 and up, I cannot guarantee that your child may not rip or take apart the eyes or yarn (I have two kids, I know haha). PLEASE do not purchase my items with intent to give to babies or small children. I am not responsible for the safety and well being of your little ones.

Can I wash them?

Some materials are washable, however I would only surface wash and make sure to squeeze out any water from the inside stuffing. It is not recommended to put in the washing machine or dryer. Fibers like wool, can felt (become matted together) and lose its soft look and feel.

My dog chewed mine up, what do I do?

If your amigurumi comes apart, as in, the stitches come unraveled or loose, please contact me, I may be able to fix or replace your item. Discretion will be used as to normal wear and time of ownership. If you dog, cat or child chews it up and destroys it or if improper care was used, I am not able to fix or replace your poor toy.

Do you have other artwork?

Yes, I do graphite drawings, watercolor artwork, as well as knit or sewn wearables.
